Watson Lake

I as a young teen used to go to Watson Lake. My grandparents used to take me on a summer vacation of fishing. They lived up Rist canyon. Those were the days. We would usually fish Watson lake and then Lake John then Big Creek lakes. I was at Watson lake last year and what a mess it is. The shelters were so over grown with trees and weeds it didn't even look like the old Watson Lake. Also what happened to the stocking of trout? Why did the Great state of Colorado
let this site just go down the drain. What a mess!! How much money does the DOW make a year and they can't keep this lake in better condition? SHAME SHAME SHAME ON THE STATE OF COLORADO DIVISION OF WILDLIFE!!! Says Old Visitor

Watson
is beautiful. You do need a wilderness habitat stamp to be there, but that is included with your fishing license. It is closed to boating, except float tubes. The river (poudre) runs along the east side of the lake so even for casual recreation or non fishing activities it is a picteresque spot. There are two handicapped/wheelchair accessible fishing docks, and the trail by the river is also wheelchair friendly. Says Grateful Fisherman
