We hiked up to Wantaga Lake from the Roaring Fork Trailhead on July 27, 2006. This is a steep trail with lots of switchbacks and stream crossings. It took us 3 hours to get to the lake and 2 to get back down. Bear and elk scat were on the trail and loads of different species of mushrooms and flowers. I recommend you take treking poles, mosquitoe repellent, food and lots of water. The lake is beautiful and is loaded with cutthroat trout! Enjoy! Says
Watanga Lake is one of the lakes here in the Front Range. That right there is a load of amusing stuff already but it goes on, the Front Range has it all.
