Custom Search     Watanga Lake     We hiked up to Wantaga Lake from the Roaring Fork Trailhead on July 27, 2006. This is a steep trail with lots of switchbacks and stream crossings. It took us 3 hours to get to the lake and 2 to get back down. Bear and elk scat were on the trail and loads of different species of mushrooms and flowers. I recommend you take treking poles, mosquitoe repellent, food and lots of water. The lake is beautiful and is loaded with cutthroat trout! Enjoy!
