A magnificent close by hotel is Super 8 Motel - Leadville, and Virginia Lake is not the only location nearby, Timberline Lake is a nearby lake. Through the long summer days highs here at Virginia Lake get into the 70's while nighttime lows are ordinarily in the 40's. During the winter this place gets highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Virginia Lake are in the 0's. Virginia Lake is one of the lakes here in the Sawatch       Range. Stay the night at Mary Queen Campground, and delightful hiking is available along the Mount Massive Trail. Virginia Lake in fact is in the middle of a delightful outdoors paradise. This lake is so wonderful. Gotta ski! Ski Cooper is a nice place to do that; don't leave Virginia Lake without first going for a hike along the Main Range Trail. While staying at Virginia Lake you could always look at Hagerman Pass; you can run the rapids of Lake                  Creek. Virginia Lake is ordinarily a relatively dry place; most of the rain falls through August; February meanwhile is the driest month. But wait, there's more cool stuff to do in the Sawatch Range. There's so much to do here at Virginia Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Gold Park Campground is a nice place for that; if you've had enough of Virginia Lake, Hagerman Lake is close by. Go for a hike on the Highline Trail, and you'll meet a lot of folks from Edwards here. What a place this is for outdoors folks. What would winter be without some skiing at Beaver Creek, and there's some attention-grabbing stuff to distinguish at Ivanhoe Dam in the vicinity of Virginia Lake. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Sawatch Range.
