The Loop Trail offers hiking at its best, and if you're interested in cool geologic marks try Phantom Terrace. Venable Lakes is a beautiful lake in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. A brilliant place to camp here at Venable Lakes is North Crestone Campground; don't leave Venable Lakes without first paying a visit to Venable Falls. There's splendid hiking along the       Venable-Comanche Trail, unsurprisingly you could also pop by Comanche Lake if you're here; it's not far at all. But wait, there's more to do close to Venable Lakes. Venable Lakes is right by the Rito Alto Trail, and why not camp at Lake Creek Campground while you're here at Venable Lakes. But wait, there's more fun things to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. The peak of Comanche Peak can be seen from Venable Lakes, and an afternoon playing golf at Challenger                  Golf Club is always a diversion. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Great Sand Dunes National Monument is a tremendous national park, and needless to say, A visit to Venable Pass is always fun. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Venable Lakes. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 40's. High temperatures throughout the winter are normally in the 30's with temperatures at Venable Lakes dipping down into the 0's during winter nights.
