Float down the rapids of Gunnison River in a kayak. There's so much to do here at Vela Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Trickel Park Campground is a nice place for that. After a long day outdoors Comfort Inn Delta is a delightful site to spend a night or two; Vela Reservoir is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Twin Lake Campground is a glorious       local campground. Be careful coming to Vela Reservoir, you might not ever want to return back home again. If you get bored of Vela Reservoir, you could also go to nearby Blanche Park Reservoir; the snow is nice at Powderhorn. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. Howard Johnson Express - Cedaredge is a nice spot to get some rest; going for a hike on the Crag Crest Trail is always a tremendous adventure. Vela Reservoir is not the only place                  close by, Skookum Reservoir is a close by lake, and close by you come across the High Foot Trail which is a good hiking trail. Summertime highs at Vela Reservoir regularly tend to be in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows sink down to the 50's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 30's, and after the sun is down throughout the winter temperatures at Vela Reservoir descend into the 0's. Vela Dam is pretty and it's in the neighborhood of Vela Reservoir, and you can go for a hike on the Lily Lake Trail.
