     And that's not all the things to do here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Vallecito Dam is a striking location close to Vallecito Reservoir, and Iron Horse Inn is a nice place to get some rest. Jack Creek is a delightful stream that is worth visiting; in case you don’t mind getting drenched, you can always go whitewater paddling on Canyon Creek. The warmest time of the year at Vallecito Reservoir arrives with high temperatures in the 70's. Summer nighttime  
   lows drop down to the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Vallecito Reservoir.
Not much rainfall falls here at Vallecito Reservoir; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and June meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop at nearby Lake Simpatico, and not far from Vallecito Reservoir you'll hit upon
 
               Wommer Reservoir Number 1 which is a pretty lake. So many entertaining things in the vicinity of Vallecito Reservoir, truly impressive. Since you're here at Vallecito Reservoir why not take a look at Browns Canyon. There's so much to do here at Vallecito Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Old Timbers Campground is a good place for that.
This lake is one of the great places here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. The Pine-Piedra Stock Driveway offers hiking at its best, and a tremendous place for whitewater paddling is Vallecito Creek.
A nice nearby hotel is Lodge at Tamarron; sites like Dunsworth Park are great to visit. Just can't get enough of the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. If you're visiting Vallecito Reservoir from Durango, you won't be the only one, and if you came to camp Wilson Creek Campground is a great place to do that.
