Not much precipitation falls here at Vallecito Reservoir; most of the rain falls through August, and June is the month with the least moisture. All the outdoors fun stuff in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains will keep you coming back repeatedly. Here at Vallecito Reservoir there are plenty of folks from Durango, and everyone loves Dunsworth Park. Very good water scenery is available       at Vallecito Dam close to Vallecito Reservoir, and Lodge at Tamarron is a wonderful place to get some rest. There's just no way anyone can get bored here at Vallecito Reservoir. Drift down the rapids of Canyon Creek in a kayak; going for a hike on the Pine-Piedra Stock Driveway is always a fine adventure. Jack Creek flows through this region, and Wilson Creek Campground is a fine campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Paddling on Vallecito Creek is                  so much fun, and Old Timbers Campground is a brilliant local campground. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Vallecito Reservoir. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 40's. For the duration of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Vallecito Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful. The San Juan and Jemez Mountains scenery is always beautiful. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the San Juan and Jemez Mountains.
