This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Upper Sand Creek Lake, you could also stop at wonderful South Colony Lakes, and the sight of Marble Mountain is pretty. Upper Sand Creek Lake gets very little rain; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is January. Upper Sand Creek Lake is wonderful enough to spend more       than a day at, North Crestone Campground is a wonderful local campground, and if you have the time, Great Sand Dunes National Monument is a national park worth taking a look at. During the summer months at Upper Sand Creek Lake highs are generally in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 40's. Through the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 0's for Upper Sand Creek Lake. Life's too short to enjoy all the                  exciting things in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. If you're visiting Upper Sand Creek Lake from Canon City, you won't be the only one, and you can go for a hike on the Rainbow Trail. All year is a tremendous time in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains if you love the outdoors. Camping at Pinyon Flats Campground is always a fine experience; nearby you come across the Marble Mountain Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. Don't try to stop me, cause I'm havin' a perfect time here at Upper Sand Creek Lake. Do stop by Hanging Lake right next door to Upper Sand Creek Lake, it's a scenic lake, and going for a hike on the Music Pass Trail is always a great adventure.
