Christopher and Elizabeth Rivers: We had a great time hiking to Upper Piney Lake over 4th of July weekend, 2006. Although the views are out of this world, the hike will take everything out of you that you've got. I would highly recommend this hike. Make sure you have everything you need for AT LEAST 2 days. The hike to Upper Piney will take 8 hours (all up hill)...But only 4 hours to get back to Piney River Ranch.

This lake is one of the great places here in the Park Range. Manor Vail Lodge is a good place to get some rest, and there are some good whitewater spots on Blue River. Summer brings highs in the 70's to Upper Piney Lake. Once the sun is down it dips down to the 40's. Through the wintertime the highs are typically in the 20's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Upper Piney Lake drop into the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Why not

| | camp at Gore Creek Campground if you're here at Upper Piney Lake, and on a perfect day you can take a hike along the Lost Lake Trail. Having a good time in the Park Range is uncomplicated. Learning Camp is a great local campground, and a round of golf at nearby Vail Golf Club is a perfect way to kill some time. But wait, there's more exciting things to do in the Park Range. If you come at the right time of year, Gore Creek offers some great whitewater; Booth | |

Lake is a magnificent lake nearby. The summit of The Spider can be spotted from Upper Piney Lake, and lots of folks from Silverthorne come here. This lake is so wonderful. Hit the slopes at Vail around here; there is a great hiking
trail close by called the Deluge Lake Trail. Not sufficient hours in a day to enjoy this place. Beaver Creek is a very popular ski area in close proximity, and going for a hike on the Slate Creek Trail is always a tremendous adventure.
If you need a spot to stay Vail Racquet Club Condominiums is a great choice; lakes are such calm places, why not take a look at Pitkin Lake. Man, is there plenty of enjoyable stuff to do right next door to Upper Piney Lake. Upper
Piney Lake is pretty dried out commonly; July is the month that gets the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest.
