This is a good neighborhood for people who like lakes. Fairview Lake is a lake close by, and the summit of Avalanche Peak can be seen from Upper Camp Lake. A delightful place to camp here at Upper Camp Lake is Elk Wallow Campground, and Eagle River has a great whitewater paddling spot nearby. Throughout the days of summer at Upper Camp Lake highs are ordinarily in the 80's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures       descend down into the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Upper Camp Lake are in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. If you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Fryingpan River, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Beaver Creek is reasonably near. And if that's not sufficient there's a load more entertaining things to do in the Sawatch Range. Good hiking is available along                  the Last Chance Trail; you'll meet a lot of people from Edwards here. Be careful coming to Upper Camp Lake, you might not ever want to go home again. Go for a hike on the Lake Charles Trail, and a fine close by hotel is Hyatt Mountain Lodge. The skiing at Vail is nice. Camping is available at Fulford Cave Campground, and after a long day outdoors Park Hyatt Beaver Creek Resort & Spa is a good site to spend a night or two. This lake is one of the great places here in the Sawatch Range. Just can't get enough of the Sawatch Range. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at close by Halfmoon Lake, and there's magnificent hiking along the New York Mountain Trail.
