The beauty of Twin Lakes is reason enough to stop by. This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of Rio de los Pinos near Twin Lakes; Twin Lakes is a magnificent site to visit for more than one day, Spectacle Lake Campground is a magnificent site to camp nearby. There's whitewater on Conejos River for all you thrill seekers, and you'll locate a striking lake called La Grulla Lake. Summertime highs at Twin Lakes regularly tend to be in the 60's. Summer

Spruce Hole Trail
 | While I have not had the pleasure of hiking any of its trails yet, I look forward to camping in this area. I ''scouted'' the dirt road into the Spruce Hole exit off of the main road. It is very lovely through this piece of wilderness. Lots of healthy pines, wildflowers, and plenty of wildlife too. Sorry I don't have any pictures, but if you're thinking about camping or hiking here... I highly suggest that you do!... |

I'd heard it had good fishing, but after puffing up a long, steep, and confusing trail (we lost our way more than once, delaying our arrival about an hour) we found the lake nearly dry; muddy, and infested with mosquitoes! Next time I'll save myself the bother and fish the Conejos. ... |
Trujillo Meadows Campground
 | 10 miles away In the 16 years that I have lived in the area, there has never been white water ( for rafting, canoeing, kayaking etc. I presume) in the Brazos. I think you are referring to the Chama River which starts in the Colorado San Juans and flows through New Mexico into the Rio Grande in Espanola ,NM. Plenty of white water there in the spring time....You seem to have missed letting people know about the great trout fishing at Trujillo Meadows. I have never been there that I haven't hooked a big one.... |
