Not far from Twin Lake, you'll locate Beaver Reservoir which is a stunning lake, and the Monitor Mesa Trail offers hiking at its best. All year is a magnificent time in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains if you go for the outdoors. If you don't mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Escalante Creek, and hiking is a popular thing to do around Twin Lake; Cottonwood       Trail is a glorious local trail. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. There's so much to do here at Twin Lake that you need to camp here for a while, T Bone Spring Campground is a great place for that; San Miguel River has a brilliant whitewater paddling spot close by. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Smokehouse Campground; lots of folks from Montrose come here. Cottonwood Basin is a glorious                  place here at Twin Lake, and after a long day outdoors Best Western Sundance is a delightful site to spend a night or two. This lake is so wonderful. Do explore Twin Lakes Dam since you're here at Twin Lake. Twin Lake is located in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always have a look at close by Twin Lakes Reservoir, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Moore Mesa Trail. Around Twin Lake you don’t get a lot of rain; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month is June. Summertime highs at Twin Lake ordinarily tend to be in the 90's, and through the night it cools down to the 60's.
