     Drift down the rapids of Dolores River in a kayak, and if you like skiing, you're in luck; Telluride is quite near. There is a wonderful hiking trail near Tom Akin Reservoir called the Groundhog Stock Driveway; there are other sites here than Tom Akin Reservoir, for example Cold Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful. Burro Bridge Campground is a good local campground. Whohoo, so many entertaining things in one place! Tom Akin Reservoir is so good! Get covered  
   with water paddling on San Miguel River, and going for a hike on the Winter Trail is always a fine adventure.
Some close by water includes Cold Creek, and Tom Akin Reservoir is a perfect place to visit for more than one day, Cayton Campground is a perfect place to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Near Tom Akin Reservoir you come across the Kilpacker Trail which is a great hiking trail, and after a long day outdoors Fairmont Franz Klammer Lodge is a nice
 
               place to spend a night or two. Tom Akin Reservoir gets very little rain; July is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month is June.
At Tom Akin Reservoir through the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Tom Akin Reservoir dipping down into the 0's throughout winter nights. Dry warm beds await you at Mountain Lodge at Telluride, and Divide Reservoir is a delightful lake close by.
