Three Island Lake is a location that is reasonably dehydrated regularly; December is the month that gets the most snow; August is when it's the driest. This lake is one of the great places here in the Park Range. Looking for some flowing water? Try Gilpin Creek, and soar down the rapids of Elk River in a kayak. Three Island Lake is right by the Big Creek Lake Trail, and great       skiing awaits you at Steamboat. This lake is so wonderful. There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Howelsen Hill; if you need a site to stay CrossTimbers at Steamboat is a good choice. And if that's not enough there's plenty more amusing things to do in the Park Range. Beaver Lake is a delightful lake next to Three Island Lake, and a good nearby hotel is Western Lodge. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Three Island Lake with nighttime                  lows in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Three Island Lake. Now, you may think that's plenty but there's even more exciting stuff to do here in the Park Range. Lakes are such serene sites, why not pop by Gold Creek Lake in the vicinity of Three Island Lake; the Crags Trail offers hiking at its best. So much enjoyable stuff to do here at Three Island Lake, too great to be true. Three Island Lake is tremendous enough to spend more than a day at, Hinman Campground is a tremendous local campground, and Routt National Forest is a brilliant spot to stretch your legs a bit. This lake is so wonderful.
