Summer night lows plunge down to the 40's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Three Island Lake temperatures sink to the-10's. That right there is lots of cool things already but it goes on, the Park Range has it all. There's delightful hiking along the Big Creek Lake Trail. You'll need more than a day to       explore everything Three Island Lake has to offer, you can camp at Coulton Creek Campground. This lake is so wonderful. Get wet paddling on Elk River, and if you've had enough of Three Island Lake, Beaver Lake is close by. You'll in fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the exciting stuff in the Park Range. A great nearby hotel is CrossTimbers at Steamboat, and don't leave Three Island Lake without first going for a hike along the Gilpin Trail. The                  Park Range scenery is always beautiful. And that's not all you can do here at Three Island Lake. Take a side visit to Gilpin Creek, and Three Island Lake is a great place to visit for more than one day, Hinman Campground is a great place to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Western Lodge is a brilliant site to get some rest, and great hiking is available along the Crags Trail. If you like skiing, you're in luck; Steamboat is near Three Island Lake, and you're perhaps keen on lakes, Gold Creek Lake is one of those close by. At Three Island Lake you don’t see much rainfall; December is the month that gets the most snow while August is regularly the driest month.
