     For the period of the summer months, highs frequently are in the 80's at Thorne Lake; through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 30's with temperatures at Thorne Lake dipping down into the 10's all through winter nights. Thorne Lake is not the only place close by, Silver Lake is a close by lake, and Ouray Koa Kampground is a great local campground. Thorne Lake is a beautiful lake in the Uncompahgre Plateau  
   Mountains.
If you need a place to stay Camel's Garden is a wonderful choice; why not head up to Telluride and strap some skis to your feet. There is a perfect hiking trail in close proximity to Thorne Lake called the Greyhound Pack Trail, and don't leave Thorne Lake without first paying a visit to Bridal Veil Falls. Be careful coming to the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains, you might not ever wanna return back home again. Whitewater paddling is magnificent
 
               on Mineral Creek - South.
Yeah, come up here to the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains for a pleasant time. Ajax Peak is clearly visible from Thorne Lake, and paddling on Lime Creek is so much fun. Thorne Lake truly is in the middle of a charming outdoors paradise. A splendid location near Thorne Lake is Royer Gulch; Ridgeway is a pleasant campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors The Ice House Lodge is a good spot to spend a night or two, and in the neighborhood of Thorne Lake you hit upon a golf course called Telluride Ski & Golf Club.
All the outdoors exciting stuff in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains will keep you coming back time and again. A day on the slopes of Silverton is just what you need, and don’t forget to stop at Governor Basin since you're here at Thorne Lake. You just can't envision the amount of outdoors entertaining stuff the area in the neighborhood of Thorne Lake has to offer. There are wonderful sites to discover along the Blue Lakes Trail, and swing by Bridal Veil Creek it's a great place to pop by. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Weehawken Pack Trail is always a nice adventure, and if you get bored of Thorne Lake you could also explore nearby Rock Lake.
Thorne Lake is a location that is relatively waterless typically; the month with most of the rain is July, and the driest of the months is June.
