If you come at the right time of year, Colorado River offers some great whitewater; not far from Thompson Reservoir Number 1 you'll hit upon Thompson Reservoir Number 3 which is a lovely lake. If you need a place to stay Comfort Inn Fruita is a brilliant choice;       there's great hiking along the Liberty Cap Trail. Summertime highs at Thompson Reservoir Number 1 mostly tend to be in the 90's while night lows are ordinarily in the 50's. Highs all through the wintertime are ordinarily in the 30's; night lows in the 0's for Thompson Reservoir Number 1. For you golfers we recommend close by Tiara RADO Golf Course; whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then, we recommend Colorado River. And if that's not enough there's lots more enjoyable things to do in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. Fruita Super 8 Motel is a good spot to get some rest.
