Going for a hike on the Eagle Peak Trail is always a fine adventure; let's not forget Fivemile Creek which is a stream that you may come across while here. Sutton Reservoir is a location that is relatively dry typically; the month with most of the rain is March, and June is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Visiting Mesa Verde National Park is just something you need to do if you haven't yet; Hesperus Ski Center is a pleasant local ski area.

| | Mavreeso Campground is a brilliant campground nearby, and you can go for a hike on the Morrison Trail. Near Sutton Reservoir you discover the Lost Canyon Stock Driveway which is a great hiking trail; a splendid place nearby is Garrison Canyon. After a long day outdoors Echo Basin Dude And Guest Ranch, LLC is a delightful site to spend a night or two. Lakes are magnificent; Knuckles Reservoir is a lake that's next to Sutton Reservoir. This lake is so wonderful. | |

Sutton Reservoir is a fine spot to visit for more than one day, West Dolores Campground is a fine spot to camp nearby, and a good close by hotel is Dunton Hot Springs. For the period of the warm days of summer, highs mostly are in
the 80's at Sutton Reservoir. Summer nighttime lows sink down to the 50's. Through the wintertime highs are ordinarily in the 30's, and throughout the dark hours in the winter at Sutton Reservoir temperatures fall to the 10's. Be
careful coming to Sutton Reservoir, you might not ever wanna go home again. Paddling on Dolores River is so much fun; since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always visit nearby Loading Pen Reservoir.

 | 12 miles away Summit Lake was constructed in 1905 and reconstructed and enlarged in 1938. It is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. It contains 402 surfqace acres when full. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and open for public fishing. Public access is from highway 184 on the north side of the lake. There is a boat ramp. Fishing is allowed from the bank or from hand powered or trolling motor powered boats only. The public access is maintained by the DOW. The only facilities present is a boat ramp and a pit toilet. No fires, swimming or overnight camping is allowed.... |
