Do stop by Sunlight Lake while you're in this part of Colorado. There's so much to do here at Sunlight Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Vallecito Campground is a fine site for that; glorious skiing awaits you at Silverton. Paddling on Animas River is so much fun, and going for a hike on the Brooklyn Trail is always a wonderful adventure. This lake is so wonderful. A tremendous nearby hotel is Purgatory Village Condominium Hotel.

Whitewater paddling is delightful on Vallecito Creek, and the summit of Gray Needle can be made out from Sunlight Lake. Throughout the summer, highs regularly are in the 70's at Sunlight Lake with overnight lows in the 40's. Sunlight Lake gets very little precipitation;
all through August this area sees the most rain, and the driest of the months is June. This lake is so wonderful. Sunlight Lake is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Blue Spruce Trailer Park is a delightful local campground;
the Whitehead Trail is a nice hiking trail nearby. Sunlight Lake is located in the San Juan Mountains.
