Mix Lake Campground is a good campground nearby, and if you get bored of Summitville Tailings Pond you could also stop at nearby Lake De Nolda. There are some great whitewater spots on Rio Grande; do have a look at Cropsy Creek if you're here at Summitville Tailings Pond. So many cool things to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, not enough time. Going for a hike along the San Juan Stock Driveway will let you absorb the natural       beauty of this vicinity, and if you come at the right time of year, Conejos River offers some great whitewater. So much cool stuff in the neighborhood of Summitville Tailings Pond, completely fantastic. If you came for an overnight stay Stunner Campground is a glorious place to camp, and Crystal Lakes is a nearby lake that you could stop at. At Summitville Tailings Pond all through the warm months highs are in the 60's, and throughout summer nights temperatures                  are in the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Summitville Tailings Pond are in the 0's. While you're here at Summitville Tailings Pond you can take a hike along the Dry Creek Stock Driveway; a fine close by hotel is The Spruce Lodge.
