David Sanford: Summit Lake was constructed in 1905 and reconstructed and enlarged in 1938. It is owned and operated by the Summit Reservoir and Irrigation Company. It contains 402 surfqace acres when full. The lake is stocked with fish by the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and open for public fishing. Public access is from highway 184 on the north side of the lake. There is a boat ramp. Fishing is allowed from the bank or from hand powered or trolling motor powered boats only. The public access is maintained by the DOW. The only facilities present is a boat ramp and a pit toilet. No fires, swimming or overnight camping is allowed.

In Colorado there are many beautiful lakes, Summit Reservoir is one of them. This lake is so wonderful. Summit Dam is an out of the ordinary thing to check out, and Mesa Verde National Park is a magnificent national park. Dry warm beds await you at Dunton Hot Springs, and Mesa Verde RV Resort is a wonderful campground here. Going for a hike along the Whites Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area, and why not head up to Hesperus Ski Center

| | and strap some skis to your feet. This lake is so wonderful. All through the warm months at Summit Reservoir temperatures are ordinarily in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. For the duration of the winter highs are regularly in the 30's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Summit Reservoir temperatures plunge to the 10's. most rain here, and June is the month with the least moisture. A lake close by is A M Puett Reservoir, and paddling on Dolores River is so much fun. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Summit Reservoir. If you need
a spot to stay Echo Basin Dude And Guest Ranch, LLC is a good choice, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Frink Trail. Camping at Summit Reservoir is great fun, A & A Mesa Verde Recreational Vehicle Park is a great local campground, and hiking along the East Rim Trail is glorious fun.
