A visit to Spike Lake is always a good idea. You absolutely have to go for the Park Range. The pretty Park Range is here at Spike Lake; if you like skiing, you're in luck; Howelsen Hill is relatively near. This is a good region for folks who like lakes. Upper Slide Lake is a lake in the neighborhood, and if you came for an overnight stay Grizzly Creek Campground is a delightful place to camp. This lake is so wonderful. This lake is so wonderful. The snow is wonderful at Steamboat, and if you're here you can take a hike along the Lost Ranger Trail. Summertime highs at Spike Lake regularly tend to be in the 80's; the night is somewhat cooler of course, generally in the 40's. High temperatures through the winter are normally in the 20's, and
through the dark hours in the wintertime at Spike Lake temperatures drop to the-10's. This lake is one of the great places here in the Park Range. Spike Lake is usually a rather dried up place; most of the snow falls through December,
and the driest of the months is August.
Get your heart beating on the delightful whitewater of Elk River, and camping is available at Summit Lake Campground. You imagine that's enough? Just getting warmed up. The view of delightful Lost Ranger Peak near Spike Lake is magnificent, and hiking along the Wyoming Trail is wonderful fun.
