There's so much to do here at Spectacle Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Spectacle Lake Campground is a fine place for that; the peak of Black Mountain can be seen from Spectacle Lake. Be careful coming to the San Juan Mountains, you might not ever want to go back home again. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Spectacle Lake; Ruybalid Trail is a magnificent local trail,       and Spectacle Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Conejos Campground is a fine local campground. At Spectacle Lake during the months of summer highs are in the 60's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Spectacle Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is tremendous on Conejos River, and glorious hiking is                  available along the Conejos Stock Driveway. If you adore the outdoors, you'll like Spectacle Lake. There's good hiking along the Notch Trail; if you need a site to stay Best Western Movie Manor is a wonderful choice. Paddling on Rio de los Pinos is so much fun, and obviously North Fork Rough Creek flows through this vicinity. All the water falling down from the sky makes Spectacle Lake a wet location; March is the wettest month with most snow, and the driest of the months is June. Spectacle Lake is one of the lakes here in the San Juan Mountains.
