South Lake is a lake worth visiting. The Sangre De Cristo Mountains scenery is always beautiful. If you want a fine time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. South Lake is a perfect place to camp, Monument Lake Resort is a perfect place, also Russell Dam is worth taking a look at if you're here. This lake is so wonderful. South Lake is generally a quite waterless site; August is the month that gets the most rain while January is the month with the least amount of precipitation. A nice close by hotel is Rio Cucharas Inn And Restaurant; brilliant hiking is available along the West Peak Trail. And if that's not enough, there's a heap more to do close to South Lake. Summertime highs at South Lake generally tend to be in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 30's;
winter nights come with lows in the-10's to South Lake. Everybody close by loves skiing at Eldora, and let's not forget Abbot Creek which is a stream that you may stumble upon during your stay. This lake is so wonderful.
