This lake is so wonderful. At South Branch Lake you can spot Eagle Peak; the Crossover Trail is a delightful hiking trail nearby. But wait, there's more enjoyable stuff to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Dry warm beds await you at Vidal Motel; South Branch Lake is perfect enough to spend more than a day at, North Crestone Campground is a perfect local campground.       Around South Branch Lake you don’t get a lot of rain; through the month of August you get the most rain around here, and January on the other hand is the driest. While you're here at South Branch Lake, you could also have a look at striking Banjo Lake; if you came to camp Lake Creek Campground is a wonderful place to do that. This lake is located in the wonderful Sangre De Cristo Mountains. White Eagle Village is a perfect site to get some rest, and nearby                  you locate the Rainbow Trail which is a splendid hiking trail. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Arkansas River, and there is a perfect hiking trail close by called the Cotton Trail. This lake is so wonderful. High temperatures at South Branch Lake during the warm days of summer are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 40's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 40's with temperatures at South Branch Lake dipping down into the 10's through winter nights. And that's not all you can do here at South Branch Lake.
