     And if that's not enough, there's lots more to do close to Smith Reservoir. A lake nearby is Section 7 Reservoir, and paddling on San Miguel River is so much fun. Smith Reservoir is ordinarily a quite dried up site; July is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is February. Yep, outdoors fun things truly is plentiful here in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. Smith Reservoir is a place with many visitors from Montrose, and soar down the rapids  
   of San Miguel River in a kayak.
Summer brings highs in the 80's to Smith Reservoir, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows during the winter for Smith Reservoir tend to be in the 0's. If you get bored of Smith Reservoir, you could also visit nearby Barnes Mill Reservoir; since you're here you can take a hike along the Paradox Road. This lake is so wonderful.
 
               Hiking along the Horsefly Trail is good fun. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Smith Reservoir has to offer, you can camp at Iron Spring Campground.
Smith Reservoir is a beautiful lake in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. There's no way somebody can get bored here in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. Going for a hike along the Dry Creek Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this neighborhood. There's so much to do here at Smith Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Antone Spring Campground is a delightful place for that.
Fairmont Franz Klammer Lodge is a great spot to get some rest; a short journey to Clay Creek Spring is always worthwhile.
