Smith Reservoir is located in the Sawatch Range. Since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always stop by nearby Cherry Lake; as expected Iola Creek flows through this area. During the warmest time of the year here at Smith Reservoir, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 80's while nighttime lows are mostly in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are in the 30's       while Smith Reservoir overnight low temperatures during the wintertime are in the 0's. Around Smith Reservoir you don’t get a lot of rain; the month of April is the wettest with most of the rain while June is commonly the driest month. You'll in fact wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the entertaining stuff in the Sawatch Range. Get your heart beating on the tremendous whitewater of Roaring Fork; if you came to camp Aspen- Basalt Campground is a fine place                  to do that. This lake is so wonderful. Seven Castles is an interesting place to check out while at Smith Reservoir, and there's whitewater on -blank- for all you thrill seekers. If you go for the outdoors you'll go for it here in the Sawatch Range. This is a great region for folks who like lakes. Toner Reservoir is a lake in the neighborhood. There's so much to do here at Smith Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Gypsum Creek Campground is a tremendous location for that. You can never get enough of the glorious skiing at Aspen Mountain; Taylor Creek Pass is a glorious site to have a look at. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the cool stuff at Smith Reservoir. Skiing at Aspen Highlands is one of those things you just have to do; if the weather is magnificent, you can go for a hike along the Antone Trail. You can take a little visit to Smith Dam since you're here at Smith Reservoir; dry warm beds await you at The Green Drake. This lake is so wonderful.
