If you need a spot to stay Alamosa-Days Inn is a perfect choice. There are delightful locations to explore along the Strawberry Trail. There's so much to do here at Smith Reservoir that you need to camp here for a while, Blanca RV Park is a perfect location for that. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike on the Huerfano Trail is always a good adventure, and not far from Smith       Reservoir you'll find Smith Reservoir which is a beautiful lake. Near Smith Reservoir you locate the Ute Trail which is a great hiking trail, and needless to say Sangre de Cristo Creek flows through this area. Smith Reservoir is pretty dried up mostly; through the month of July you get the most rain around here, and the driest month of the year is January. A visit to Great Sand Dunes National Monument is recommended. Lakes? Sure, Tobin Creek Dam is in                  close proximity. During the summertime months at Smith Reservoir highs are commonly in the 80's while nighttime lows are ordinarily in the 40's. Highs during the wintertime are regularly in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Smith Reservoir. Not enough hours in a day to enjoy this place.
