There are some great whitewater spots on Lake Fork Gunnison River; you can stay the night at Lake City Campground. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Slide Lake. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. Daytime highs through the winter are in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Slide Lake. The Ridge Stock Driveway offers hiking       at its best, and if you come at the right time of year, Henson Creek offers some fine whitewater. If you go for the outdoors you'll go for it here in the San Juan Mountains. Slide Lake is right by the Big Blue Trail, and after a long day outdoors Comfort Inn Ouray is a brilliant spot to spend a night or two. Not much rainfall falls here at Slide Lake; during August this area sees the most rain; June meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful.                  Why not take a refreshing hike along the Fall Creek Trail, and Slide Lake is a splendid place to camp, Big Blue Campground is a splendid place.
