| | One of the overriding highlights of the surroundings of Sheep Lake is West Elk Mountains, and if you came for an overnight stay Lost Lake Campground is a pleasant spot to camp. Sheep Lake is pretty dry typically; October is the month that gets the most rain while June is usually the driest month. Commissary Gulch Campground is a perfect campground here, and you can have a splendid hiking adventure along the Mill-Castle Trail.

luck; Irwin Lodge is in the vicinity of Sheep Lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Anthracite Creek - Ruby Fork. Through the summer months at Sheep Lake highs are commonly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to
the 50's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows at Sheep Lake throughout the wintertime mostly dip into the 10's. Having a nice time at Sheep Lake is painless. Inn at Rock House Ranch is
a great location to get some rest, and if you come at the right time of year, Crystal River - South Fork offers some brilliant whitewater.
