It's always fun to stop by Shaw Lake. This lake is so wonderful. On a great day at Shaw Lake you can take a hike along the Treasure Mountain Trail. Through the warm days of summer highs here at Shaw Lake reach the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 30's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's while Shaw Lake nighttime low temperatures through the wintertime are in the-10's. While you're here at Shaw Lake you can take a hike along

| | the Lake Fork National Recreation Trail, and a perfect place for whitewater paddling is Wolf Creek.
Shaw Lake is typically a rather dried out place; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain; the driest month of the year is June. Shaw Lake is one of the lakes here in the San Juan Mountains. You just can't picture the amount of outdoors cool stuff the area close to Shaw Lake has to offer. is a glorious choice, and not far from Shaw Lake you'll hit upon Big Meadows Reservoir which is a picturesque lake.
And if that's not enough there's a lot more exciting things to do in the San Juan Mountains. You'll need more
than a day to discover everything Shaw Lake has to offer, you can camp at Park Creek Campground, and dry warm beds await you at Americas Best Value Inn. Just can't get enough of the San Juan Mountains. There's so much to do here at
Shaw Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Highway Spring Campground is a tremendous location for that, and as expected Black Creek is a scenic stream that is worth a visit. This lake is so wonderful. If the weather is good
here at Shaw Lake, you can go for a hike along the Highline Trail; from Shaw Lake you get a splendid view of Heart Mountain.
Why not check out Shaw Dam if you're here, and in case you don’t mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Rio Grande.
