The beauty of Shalona Lake attracts many people from all around. Life's too short to enjoy all the amusing stuff next to Shalona Lake. Get drenched paddling on Animas River, and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Highline Trail. So much cool stuff to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, not sufficient time. | | good choice. While you're here at Shalona Lake you can take a hike along the Goodhope Stock Driveway; take a look at nearby Mitchell Lakes. An average amount of rainfall falls at Shalona Lake; the month with most of the rain is August; June is the month with the least moisture. in close proximity to Shalona Lake; the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Hesperus Ski Center. Keeler Dam is a spot that is right next door to Shalona Lake, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Canyon Creek.

Stratton Lake which is a picturesque lake, and the Circle Trail is a good hiking trail close by. This lake is so wonderful. Shalona Lake is magnificent enough to spend more than a day at, Haviland Lake Campground is a magnificent
local campground, and there are plenty of folks from Durango here. Through the months of summer highs here at Shalona Lake reach the 70's, and the night is a little colder of course, usually in the 30's. The cold days of the wintertime
come with highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows through the winter for Shalona Lake tend to be in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Put some time aside to spend at Pinkerton Hot Springs while you're here at Shalona Lake, and Lodge at Tamarron is a pleasant place to get some rest.
