The Apishapa Trail offers hiking at its best, and a lake close by is Monument Lake. If you want a fine time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. There's so much to do here at Schaffer Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Potato Patch Campground is a perfect place for that, and Cherry Creek is one of the streams close by that might be worth taking a look at. This lake is so wonderful.       A splendid panorama of picturesque Hayrack Mountain is available from Schaffer Lake, and nearby you hit upon good spots like Hell Canyon. This lake is so wonderful. It is very dried out here at Schaffer Lake ordinarily; during August this area sees the most rain while January is typically the driest month. Through the summertime months here at Schaffer Lake, high temperatures typically get into the 80's. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 40's. The                  cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows throughout the wintertime for Schaffer Lake tend to be in the-10's.
