Camping at Monument Lake Resort is always a great experience; if you crave a little side trip, try Hell Canyon. Any time is a good time at Schaffer Lake if you like the outdoors. On a wonderful day you get a sight of Hayrack Mountain from Schaffer Lake, and Cherry Creek is close to Schaffer Lake and is always a joy to check out. During the days of summer at Schaffer       Lake highs are commonly in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. For the duration of the wintertime the highs are frequently in the 30's, and overnight lows through the winter for Schaffer Lake tend to be in the-10's. Around Schaffer Lake you don’t get a lot of rain; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at                  Knights Inn Walsenburg. A delightful site to camp here at Schaffer Lake is Potato Patch Campground; you can never get enough of the fine skiing at Eldora. This lake is so wonderful. The West Peak Trail offers hiking at its best, and Monument Lake Dam is an exciting thing to check out. Schaffer Lake is right by the Apishapa Trail, and unsurprisingly, this is a good region for people who like lakes, Monument Lake is a lake in the vicinity. This lake is one of the great places here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Take a hike on the Wade Trail.
