Many people like to go to Sawmill Reservoir. This lake is one of the great places here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. That right there is a lot already, but it continues; Sawmill Reservoir has it all. There are great sites to explore along the Middle Mountain Trail, and Piedra River has a tremendous whitewater paddling spot nearby. This lake is so wonderful. If you don’t have a problem getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Piedra River, and getting to West Fork Devil Creek from Sawmill Reservoir is easy. This lake is so wonderful. Throughout the days of summer highs here at Sawmill Reservoir get into the 80's. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 40's. This place, the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, has so much outdoors cool things. Good hiking is available along the Devil Mountain Trail, and don't leave Sawmill Reservoir without first
going for a hike along the Piedra Stock Trail. A typical amount of rainfall falls here at Sawmill Reservoir; August is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest month is June. Sawmill Reservoir is a great place to visit for
more than one day, Happy Camper RV Park is a great place to camp nearby, and Econo Lodge Pagosa Springs is a great spot to get some rest.
