This lake is so wonderful. Paddling on Homestake Creek is so much fun; a tremendous nearby hotel is Hyatt Mountain Lodge. Gold Park Campground is a splendid local campground; you can hit the slopes at Ski Cooper in close proximity. If you have a thing about the outdoors, you'll fancy Savage Lakes. There's good hiking along the Highline Trail, and during your spree here you'll meet some folks from Edwards for sure.
Don't leave Savage Lakes without

first going for a hike along the Last Chance Trail, and Elk Wallow Campground is a great campground nearby. The Half Moon Trail offers hiking at its best, and if you need a place to stay The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch is a good choice. Now, you may believe that's plenty but there's even more entertaining things to do here in the Sawatch Range. Looking for something in the vicinity of Savage Lakes? Sopris Lake is nearby; if you're looking for some flowing water? Try Mormon Creek.
So many cool things to do here at Savage Lakes, too good to be true. Not much precipitation falls here at Savage Lakes; the wettest month of the year is generally July, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month is February. And if that's not sufficient there's a heap more enjoyable things to do in the Sawatch Range. You're possibly hooked on lakes, Brady Lake is one of those close by, and Beaver Creek has fine slopes and a friendly staff.

Beautiful drive up to Lede Reservoir.  We started in Eagle and took Sylvan Lake road all the way past the lake and then took a right at the first intersection.  After climbing up and around the peak in front of us we were upon some huge rolling meadows that were among the forrests.  A slight drop down into the valley on the west side of the mountains and a left turn lead us to the reservoir.  It is a great spot with some fishing paths around the water and a number of campsites as well.  We continued west to Gypsum Creek Road and a short drive back to the town of Gypsum....

...construction began on the ski trails. Today, Chuck’s dream is alive and well.

As stated in a 1969 US Forest Service report, if there were a mountain that had terrain for skiing it would be Copper Mountain. It is the most nearly perfect ski mountain in the U. S. Over the years, new lifts were added and Copper grew to its current size of 2,465 acres. What was once a sleepy little day ski area is now one of Colorado's premier year-round destination resorts. In 1997, the resort was purchased by Intrawest - a worldwide leader in resort operations and real estate development.

Now the resort consists of not only an incredible mountain, but multiple villages, hundreds of buildings and a million other tangible, moving pieces. Copper is, and always has been, bigger than the tangible. Copper is about people. It’s about spirit. It’s about attitude, passion, heart, guest loyalty and financial strength. It’s about a place that provides a true connection to nature, adventure, the mountain, the community and the mountain lifestyle, void of any pretense. It’s a place, most of all, inten...
