Salamander Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. Salamander Lake is one of the lakes here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. There's just no way somebody can get bored here at Salamander Lake. You can make out Simmons Peak from Salamander Lake, and there's whitewater on Arkansas River for all you adrenaline junkies. | | generally in the 40's. Highs through the wintertime are generally in the 40's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Salamander Lake temperatures dip to the 10's.
This place, the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, has so much outdoors cool stuff. Dry warm beds await you at Circle R Motel, and camping at Little River Ranch Motel is always a wonderful experience. interested in lakes, Hunts Lake is one of those close by. So much entertaining stuff to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, not enough time. You can run the rapids of Arkansas River in the vicinity of Salamander Lake.
Salamander
Lake is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Four Seasons RV Park is a delightful local campground, and there is a pleasant hiking trail close by called the Simmons Peak Trail. At Salamander Lake you don’t see much rainfall;
most of the rain falls through August, and the driest month is January. Going for a hike on the Round Hill Trail is always a delightful adventure, and if you need a location to stay Comfort Inn Salida is a splendid choice.
