On a pretty day you get a vista of Pete Hills from Russell Lake. This is no site for people who don’t like to have fun. After a long day outdoors Knights Inn Walsenburg is a splendid spot to spend a night or two, and you might also want to pay a visit to Deadman Canyon since you're here at Russell Lake. Russell Lake is pretty dehydrated regularly; most of the rain falls through       August, and the driest of the months is January. These mountains rock, just look at all the exciting stuff to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Good hiking is available along the West Peak Trail, and why not go to Russell Dam if you're here. Through the summertime, highs commonly are in the 80's at Russell Lake, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's with winter lows in the-10's overnight                  here at Russell Lake. The Wade Trail offers hiking at its best, and a pretty lake like South Lake is a pleasant site to go to. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Russell Lake; Apishapa Trail is a fine local trail, and why not head up to Eldora and strap some skis to your feet. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Potato Patch Campground is always a magnificent experience, and South Valley is a great location to stretch your legs a bit. Russell Lake is wonderful enough to spend more than a day at, Monument Lake Resort is a wonderful local campground, and the Pete Hills is one of the things that make Russell Lake so magnificent. If you want a pleasant time in the great outdoors just come on up to the Sangre De Cristo Mountains.
