This lake is so wonderful. You can run the rapids of San Miguel River in the vicinity of Round Park Reservoir, and Round Park Reservoir is a great place to camp, Smokehouse Campground is a great place. So much exciting stuff to do in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains, not sufficient time. There's whitewater on Escalante Creek for all you thrill seekers, and there is a great hiking       trail close by called the Monitor Mesa Trail. For the duration of the warm months here at Round Park Reservoir, high temperatures generally get into the 90's, and the overnight is a tad colder of course, generally in the 60's. Highs all through the wintertime are usually in the 40's, and during the dark hours in the wintertime at Round Park Reservoir temperatures drop to the 10's. This location, the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains, has so much outdoors enjoyable                  stuff. Round Park Reservoir is not the only location nearby, Beaver Reservoir is a nearby lake, and Cottonwood Basin is a gorgeous place any time of year. Twin Lakes Dam is worth visiting while you're here; at Round Park Reservoir you can make out 25 Mesa. If only every place had this much outdoors amusing things, what a great globe it would be. You'll meet a lot of people from Montrose here, and going for a hike on the Moore Mesa Trail is always a nice adventure. Stay the night at T Bone Spring Campground, and the Cottonwood Trail is a tremendous hiking trail nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Westward Ho Motel & Trailer Pk is a delightful place to get some rest. It is very dry here at Round Park Reservoir usually; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while June is regularly the driest month.
