    If you are traveling by, why not stop by Rocky Basin. Rocky Basin is one of the lakes here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. While you're here at Rocky Basin, you could also pop by striking Little Emerald Lake. These mountains rock, just look at all the cool stuff to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Bear Trap Canyon is a magnificent location to spend some time at, and the Middle Mountain Trail offers hiking at its best.
 
   At Rocky Basin during the months of summer highs are in the 70's, and the night is slightly chillier of course, frequently in the 30's. Highs throughout the wintertime are commonly in the 30's, and night lows in the-10's for Rocky Basin. If you need a location to stay Keyah Grande Resort is a great choice; Pine River Campground is a glorious local campground. There are some tremendous whitewater spots on Vallecito Creek, and a short journey to Coyote Basin  
               Spring is always worthwhile.
You simply have to have a thing about the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Rocky Basin; Devil Mountain Trail is a fine local trail; Grassy Point is easy to spot from Rocky Basin. This lake is so wonderful. There's whitewater on Piedra River for all you adrenaline rush seekers; Five Branches Camper Park is a nice campground nearby. The amount of precipitation that falls at Rocky Basin is close to the national average; August is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is June.
And if that's not enough, there's lots more to do near Rocky Basin. Good hiking is available along the Pine-Piedra Stock Driveway; you'll stumble on a pretty lake called Moon Lake.
