Rock Lake is a nice lake to visit. In case you don’t have a problem getting wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Vallecito Creek; Rock Lake is a great location to camp, Vallecito Campground is a great location. This lake is so wonderful. Good hiking is available along the Pine-Piedra Stock Driveway, and you can stay the night at Pine River Campground. Rock Lake is located in the San Juan Mountains.

| | at Rock Lake during the warmest time of the year are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Rock Lake. So many entertaining things to do in the San Juan Mountains, not sufficient time. Don't leave Rock Lake without first going for a hike along the Deer Park Trail, and if you've had enough of Rock Lake, Annie Lakes is close by.

paddling is tremendous on Animas River; a day on the slopes of Kendall Mountain is just what you need. Rock Lake is generally a pretty waterless site; most of the rain falls all through August while June is ordinarily the driest month.
Rock Lake truly is in the middle of a scenic outdoors paradise. There are splendid sites to explore along the Whitehead Trail, and if you need a site to stay Cascade Village is a wonderful choice.
There's no way someone can get
bored here in the San Juan Mountains. A great vista of picturesque Buffalo Peak is available from Rock Lake; why not head up to Silverton and strap some skis to your feet.
