     Rock Ballast Reservoir is a location that is pretty dry typically; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Have a great hiking adventure along the Dry Creek Trail. So much fun stuff in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains, just phenomenal. Looking for something near Rock Ballast Reservoir? Hardin Reservoir is around here, and there's some flowing water nearby, South  
   Fork Clay Creek is a stream you can stop at during your stay.

While you're here at Rock Ballast Reservoir you can take a hike along the Paradox Road, and there's whitewater on San Miguel River for all you thrill seekers.                away. Throughout the long summer days here at Rock Ballast Reservoir, high temperatures generally reach the 80's, and the night is somewhat colder of course, ordinarily in the 40's. All through the winter highs are frequently in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Rock Ballast Reservoir temperatures drop to the 0's.
Life's too short to enjoy all the cool stuff in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains. Iron Spring Campground is a glorious local campground It's always pleasant to explore Clay Creek Spring. This lake is so wonderful. Antone Spring Campground is a wonderful campground nearby, and Fairmont Franz Klammer Lodge is a great place to get some rest. Rock Ballast Reservoir is a beautiful lake in the Uncompahgre Plateau Mountains.
Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend San Miguel River; do take a hike on the Horsefly Trail.
