    Go to Relay Retaining Pond if you want to go to a nice lake. Relay Retaining Pond is right by the Highline Trail, and get yourself into a kayak and hit Animas River. This place, Relay Retaining Pond, it just has so much outdoors entertaining stuff. Hatter Pond is a perfect lake in close proximity to Relay Retaining Pond, and the slopes of Silverton are so inviting nobody can resist. Summertime highs at Relay Retaining Pond regularly tend to be in the 70's. Summer nighttime  
   lows sink down to the 30's. For the period of the wintertime this place gets highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Relay Retaining Pond.
East Fork Hermosa Creek flows through this area, and Cascade Village is a magnificent place to get some rest. Take a hike on the East Fork Trail; if you came to camp Purgatory Campground is a tremendous site to do that. The annual rain here at Relay Retaining Pond is about average; during the month
 
               of August you get the most rain around here while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation.
This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Circle Trail, and Telluride is a wonderful local ski area. Get dripping wet paddling on Hermosa Creek, and a visit to Hermosa Park revives the soul. But wait, there's more to do close to Relay Retaining Pond.
This lake is so wonderful. There's so much to do here at Relay Retaining Pond that you need to camp here for a while, Sig Creek Campground is a tremendous place for that, and dry warm beds await you at Purgatory Village Condominium Hotel. Near Relay Retaining Pond you hit upon Horse Canyon which is a brilliant spot to visit, and there are other places here than Relay Retaining Pond, for example Hotter Brothers Lake.
