     Dry warm beds await you at Purgatory Lodge by Durango Mountain Resorts, and great skiing awaits you at Telluride. Hermosa Park is a great place, and do take a hike on the Circle Trail. Horse Canyon is a magnificent place to spend some time at, and Purgatory Campground is a good campground nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Have a tremendous hiking adventure along the East Fork Trail, and after a long day outdoors Cascade Village is a good site to spend a night  
   or two.
This lake is so wonderful. Sig Creek Campground is a brilliant local campground; whitewater paddling is tremendous on Hermosa Creek. Silverton has good slopes and a friendly staff; you'll find a stunning lake called Hotter Brothers Lake. And that's not all you can do here at Relay Retaining Pond. Paddling on Animas River is so much fun, and East Fork Hermosa Creek is right next door to Relay Retaining Pond and is always a diversion to pop by.
Hiking
 
               along the Highline Trail is magnificent fun; since you're here, you could also visit charming Hatter Pond. A common amount of precipitation falls here at Relay Retaining Pond; August is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is June. That right there is a lot already, but it continues; Relay Retaining Pond has it all.
Summer brings highs in the 70's to Relay Retaining Pond. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 30's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Relay Retaining Pond are in the 0's.
