Rainbow Lake is a location that is quite arid generally; the month of August is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest month of the year is January. Now, you may imagine that's loads but there's even more exciting things to do here in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Potato Patch Campground is a brilliant campground nearby, and everyone loves South Valley. This lake is so wonderful.       This is a great area for people who like lakes. South Lake is a lake close by, and after a long day outdoors Knights Inn Walsenburg is a glorious spot to spend a night or two. Monument Lake Resort is a perfect local campground, and Eldora has glorious slopes and a friendly staff. Whohoo, so much exciting stuff in one place! The Sangre De Cristo Mountains is so good! A magnificent place to pop by near Rainbow Lake is Deadman Canyon, and don't leave Rainbow Lake                  without first going for a hike along the Apishapa Trail. This lake is so wonderful. There's just no way anybody can get bored here at Rainbow Lake. Some nearby water includes Abbot Creek, and there's great hiking along the Wade Trail. All through the days of summer here at Rainbow Lake, high temperatures mostly reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Rainbow Lake.
