West Fork Campground is a pleasant campground nearby, and if you've had enough of Quartz Lake, Crater Lake is nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Not much precipitation falls here at Quartz Lake; during the month of August you get the most rain around here while June is mostly the driest month. Through the long summer days here at Quartz Lake, high temperatures generally get into the 80's. All through the moonlight hours it's regularly in the 40's. The

| | wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Quartz Lake temperatures plunge to the 0's. If only every location had this much outdoors cool stuff, what a great globe it would be. Nipple Mountain is picturesque and can be spotted from Quartz Lake; nearby you locate the Little Blanco Trail which is a pleasant hiking trail. This lake is so wonderful. River Campground is a splendid spot to camp nearby, and there are some perfect whitewater spots on San Juan River - East Fork. Quartz Lake is located in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody
but if it's for you then we recommend Wolf Creek; there are good sites to look at along the Blanco River Trail. Now, you may think that's a heap but there's even more cool things to do here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. After

San Juan River - East Fork
 | I am a very close relative of the land owners for a significant portion of the East Fork. There is a couple of miles of river that is private land. Using the river or the land without authorization is tresspassing and is illegal. I am by no means giving you permission to use it. I am simply stating the facts.
