The beauty of Quartz Lake is reason enough to stop by. This lake is one of the great places here in the San Juan Mountains. Going for a hike on the Quartz Creek Trail is always a great adventure, and West Fork Campground is a magnificent campground here. This lake is so wonderful. The top of Nipple Mountain is easily distinguished from Quartz Lake, and San Juan River - East Fork is a good whitewater spot nearby. Not much rainfall falls here at Quartz Lake; the month with most of the rain is August; June meanwhile is the driest month. Be careful coming to the San Juan Mountains, you might not ever want to return home again.

for a hike on the Blanco River Trail, and you can stay the night at Blanco River Campground. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Quartz Lake while overnight lows are typically in the 40's. Highs during the wintertime are typically in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Quartz Lake.
