Beautiful Ptarmigan Lake has much to offer visitors. This lake is so wonderful. Roaring Fork has a delightful whitewater paddling spot close by; Ptarmigan Lake is right by the Matchless Trail. If you need a place to stay VillaHotel Bears Creek is a pleasant choice, and hiking along the Timberline Trail is delightful fun. If you came to camp Portal Campground is a perfect site to do that; the Star Trail offers hiking at its best.

| | local ski area, and while you're here, you could also explore pretty Tabor Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Throughout the summertime at Ptarmigan Lake temperatures are usually in the 70's. For the duration of the moonlight hours it's frequently in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's; after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Ptarmigan Lake drop into the 0's.

to do here at Ptarmigan Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Dorchester Campground is a glorious spot for that, and dry warm beds await you at The Alpenblick By Aspen Lodging Company. Not much precipitation falls here at Ptarmigan
Lake; August is when you get the most rain here, and February meanwhile is the driest month. The slopes of Aspen Mountain are so inviting nobody can resist; paddling on Lake Creek is so much fun.
