If you like lakes and you're in this part of Colorado you can check out Ptarmigan Lake. Be careful coming to Ptarmigan Lake, you might not ever wanna go back home again. Don't miss out on a journey to Black Canyon Of The Gunnison National Park since you're here at Ptarmigan Lake, obviously you could also stop at Spout Lake if you're here; it's not far at all. A nice close by hotel is Buena Vista Super 8 Motel, and Grassy Gulch is another fine place to stop

| | by nearby. Whohoo, so many enjoyable things in one place! The Sawatch Range is excellent! If you're here at Ptarmigan Lake, you could stop by Mineral Creek, and get your heart pumping on the tremendous whitewater of Arkansas River.
This lake is so wonderful. If you need a spot to stay Best Western Vista Inn is a great choice, and hey, Gotta ski right? Monarch is a good site to do that. A nice panorama of beautiful Jones Mountain is available from Ptarmigan Lake; | |

spots like Big Grassy are nice to have a look at. If you want a tremendous time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Ptarmigan Lake.
You just can't envision the amount of outdoors amusing stuff the Sawatch Range has to
offer. There's good hiking along the South Pine Creek Trail; Mirror Lake Campground is a great campground here. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Ptarmigan Lake, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 30's. Throughout
the winter highs are in the 20's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures at Ptarmigan Lake plunge into the-20's. Go for a hike on the Texas Creek Trail, and tremendous hiking is available along the Horn Fork Trail.
This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Clear Creek; you can stay the night at Hughes Meadow Campground. Ptarmigan Lake gets very little rain; August is when you get the most rain here; the driest of the months is June. Ptarmigan Lake is located in the Sawatch Range.
