Potato Lake is a great lake in an area with lots of outdoors fun all around. This lake is one of the great places here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Have a pleasant hiking adventure along the Deer Park Trail; you can stay the night at Lime Creek Campground. At Potato Lake you don’t see much precipitation; the month with most of the rain is August, and June is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Lime Creek is a tremendous whitewater spot

Throughout the summer months here at Potato Lake, high temperatures typically reach the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 40's. Village Condominium Hotel is a nice location to spend a night or two. These mountains rock, just look at all the enjoyable things to do in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Why not pop by close by Crater Creek while you're here
at Potato Lake, and why not take a refreshing hike along the Highline Trail. And if that's not enough, there's plenty more to do in the neighborhood of Potato Lake. The skiing at Silverton is delightful, and do take a hike on the
Circle Trail. This lake is so wonderful. In case you don’t mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Animas River, and if you get bored of Potato Lake you could also check out nearby Boyce Lake. Kendall
Mountain is a great local ski area. There's so much to do here at Potato Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Purgatory Campground is a great spot for that. If you want a tremendous time in the great outdoors just come on
up to the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. The peak of Coal Bank Hill can be made out from Potato Lake; Scout Lake is a nearby lake that you could check out.
