     Poage Lake is located in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. For the duration of the warmest time of the year at Poage Lake temperatures are regularly in the 60's. Summer nighttime lows descend down to the 40's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Poage Lake. This lake is so wonderful. A beautiful lake like Rudifor Lake in close proximity to Poage Lake is a splendid location to have a look at; you can go for a hike on  
   the San Juan Stock Driveway.
Poage Lake gets much water; the month of March is the wettest with most of the snow while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation. And that's not everything there is to do here in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. You'll find a charming lake called Swale Lake near Poage Lake, and close by you hit upon the Hot Creek Stock Driveway which is a pleasant hiking trail. If you need a spot to stay Allington Inn and
 
               Suites is a great choice, and Cross Creek Campground is a brilliant local campground.
Just can't get enough of the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. The vista of pretty Handkerchief Mesa near Poage Lake is nice, and going for a hike on the Silver Creek Trail is always a delightful adventure. If you want a brilliant time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Poage Lake. A nice close by hotel is The Spruce Lodge, and a fine place for whitewater paddling is Rio Grande. Poage Lake is a great spot to visit for more than one day, Upper Beaver Creek Campground is a great spot to camp nearby, and everyone loves Upper Beaver Meadow.
This lake is so wonderful. Wolf Creek is a great whitewater spot near Poage Lake.

I was raised near this lake and when a child we had to pack horses into this lake. It is not near any campgrounds, and it's over 25 miles to town, not 18. It gets way colder than 0 in the winter but the views are almost correct.  It IS beautiful!...

San Juan River - East Fork

I am a very close relative of the land owners for a significant portion of the East Fork. There is a couple of miles of river that is private land. Using the river or the land without authorization is tresspassing and is illegal. I am by no means giving you permission to use it. I am simply stating the facts. Please respect the property line and stay on public lands. Other than that enjoy your time in CO and happy rafting....
