If you are in Rio Grande county it's always a good idea to stop by Poage Lake. Poage Lake is located in the San Juan Mountains. This lake is so wonderful. Poage Lake is delightful enough to spend more than a day at, Upper Beaver Creek Campground is a delightful local campground; a magnificent nearby hotel is Allington Inn and Suites. Be careful coming to the San Juan Mountains, you might not ever want to go home again. There's so much to do here at Poage Lake that

| | you need to camp here for a while, Cross Creek Campground is a good site for that, and the Hot Creek Stock Driveway is a pleasant hiking trail close by.
So much enjoyable stuff in the vicinity of Poage Lake, just phenomenal. If you come at the right time of year, Rio Grande offers some pleasant whitewater, and nearby you find the Silver Creek Trail which is a tremendous hiking trail. choice, and Upper Beaver Meadow is a pretty spot any time of year. That right there is heaps of amusing stuff already but it goes on, the San Juan Mountains has it all. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then
we recommend Wolf Creek.
Poage Lake regularly gets a large amount of rainfall; most of the snow falls through March while June is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Summertime highs at Poage Lake regularly tend
to be in the 60's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 40's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Poage Lake. Going for a hike on the San Juan
Stock Driveway is always a great adventure; from Poage Lake you obtain a magnificent panorama of Handkerchief Mesa.
