Be careful coming to the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, you might not ever want to go back home again. There's so much to do here at Pioneer Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Great Sand Dunes Oasis is a glorious site for that. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Days Inn Alamosa,       and if the weather is great, you can go for a hike along the Huerfano Trail. A pleasant journey to Blanca Basin is a perfect way to spend an afternoon; on a tremendous day you can take a hike along the Ute Trail. Yeah, come up here to the Sangre De Cristo Mountains for a perfect time. If you came to camp Blanca RV Park is a fine place to do that, and you're probably hooked on lakes, South Zapata Lake is one of those nearby. Yep, outdoors fun things to do                  are in fact plentiful here at Pioneer Lake. The peak of Blanca Peak can be observed from Pioneer Lake, and there is a perfect hiking trail nearby called the Strawberry Trail. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Pioneer Lake.
