Places like Blanca Basin are great to take a look at, and the peak of Blanca Peak can be distinguished from Pioneer Lake. It is very waterless here at Pioneer Lake usually; the wettest month of the year is frequently August, that's the one that rains the most; January is when it's the driest. So many entertaining things to do in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains, not enough time. Visiting Great Sand Dunes National Monument is just       something you need to do if you haven't yet. There's so much to do here at Pioneer Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Blanca RV Park is a tremendous site for that. For the duration of the long summer days, highs typically are in the 80's at Pioneer Lake. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 50's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Pioneer Lake. While you're here at Pioneer                  Lake you can take a hike along the Strawberry Trail, and after a long day outdoors Alamosa-Days Inn is a good site to spend a night or two. Pioneer Lake is a beautiful lake in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. If only every site had this much outdoors exciting stuff, what a great earth it would be. Have a great hiking adventure along the Huerfano Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Going for a hike along the Ute Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area.
