Pinon Lake Reservoir is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. At Pinon Lake Reservoir you don’t see much rain; through August this area sees the most rain, and June is when it's the driest. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining things in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains. Pagosa Lodge is a glorious place to get some rest, and a lake close by is Sullenburger Reservoir. All through the summer, highs usually are in the 80's at Pinon Lake Reservoir;

| | the nighttime is fairly colder of course, mostly in the 40's. For the period of the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and night lows at Pinon Lake Reservoir all through the winter ordinarily fall into the 0's. So much cool stuff in the San Juan and Jemez Mountains, just astonishing. Creek Valley Campground is a good local campground. Hiking along the Martinez Creek Trail is glorious fun; camping at San Juan Trailer Park and Motel is always a fine experience. This lake is so wonderful. Lake Pagosa is a nearby
lake that you could check out, and if you come at the right time of year, San Juan River offers some nice whitewater. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Econo Lodge Pagosa Springs is a great place to spend a
night or two, and if you're here and you like golf, you can stop at Pagosa Springs Golf Club. Pinon Lake Reservoir is right by the Fourmile Stock Trail; everyone loves Sunetha Flats.

The take out after Mesa Canyon is where Trujillo Rd gets close to the river on R Left @ 37. 125988°, -107. 051072°

San Juan River - East Fork
 | 12 miles away I am a very close relative of the land owners for a significant portion of the East Fork. There is a couple of miles of river that is private land. Using the river or the land without authorization is tresspassing and is illegal. I am by no means giving you permission to use it. I am simply stating the facts. Please respect the property line and stay on public lands. Other than that enjoy your time in CO and happy rafting.... |
