When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 40's. The wintertime comes       with highs in the 30's while the cold winter nights at Petroleum Lake are in the 0's. Hiking is a popular thing to do around Petroleum Lake; Matchless Trail is a great local trail, and a tremendous site to camp here at Petroleum Lake is Portal Campground.
