After a long day outdoors The Grand Lodge Crested Butte Hotel & Suites is a splendid place to spend a night or two, and Mount Baldy is simple to spot from Peeler Lakes. Peeler Lakes is pretty arid ordinarily; most of the rain falls during August, and February is when it's the driest. Camping is available at Avery Peak Campground. A lake close by is Galena Lake, and hey, Gotta ski right? Irwin Lodge is a splendid location to do that. So much fun stuff to do at Peeler Lakes, so little time. Excellent white-water kayaking on the Crystal River, for the experienced expert only. Coors Falls at Lead King Basin is a top scale challenge, as is the 2-mile river course from the Crystal Mill. Somewhat milder is the Crystal River from Marble to Redstone. Beyond Redstone gets a little hairy... |
Lost Lake Campground
 | 11 miles away I just camped at Lost Lake 2 weeks ago! It is so beautiful and serene they were holding a wedding there 2 days after we left. With only 10 campsites, it is quiet and ideal for families or couples. A beautiful view of Lost Lake Slough and of the mountains in the background greeted us in the morning. The full moon rising over the crest of the mountain was a real treat the first night we got there. There is a 3 mile hike within walking distance on which we saw beautiful wildflowers, 2 waterfalls, and 3 lakes. ENJOY!... |

That is not to say that all groups that use this camp are in total agreeement on all issues. But on the basics of biblical orthodoxy, we must agree.
